Leidos is seeking Software Engineer / Scrum Masters to join the Air Traffic Business Area within the Homeland Sector supporting the development of next‑generation flight service and air traffic systems. This work aligns with the FAAs broader initiative to modernize legacy flight service capabilities replacing aging infrastructure with scalable cloud‑based platforms designed to improve safety and operational efficiency‑particularly in remote and high‑dependency aviation environments. These efforts focus on delivering mission‑critical future‑ready solutions that provide safety‑critical flight services to the pilot community.Please note this exciting position is currently unfunded and is an anticipation of future work.As a member of a Scaled Agile software development organization you will contribute to the technical execution of a program that integrates proven globally deployed technologies with modern cloud‑native capabilities. You will work alongside cross‑functional teams and technical leaders to deliver predictable outcomes in a highly regulated safety‑critical environment.In this position you will serve as a DevSecOps Scrum Master guiding Agile/SAFe processes while actively contributing to the design development and implementation of software solutions. You will foster effective collaboration across cross‑functional teams and partner closely with the Product Owner Systems Engineers and development teams to align priorities and drive successful delivery. This role requires strong technical expertise hands‑on coding experience excellent communication and collaboration skills and the ability to adapt in a fast‑paced environment.Candidate must be able to obtain a favorable SF‑85P Public Trust suitability determination from the FAA customer. Due to contract requirements the position requires U.S. Citizenship.Primary ResponsibilitiesLead the team in executing planned sprint activities.Facilitate and lead all Scrum ceremonies including Sprint Planning Daily Scrums Retrospectives and Reviews/Demos using relevant metrics and data to drive continuous improvement.Actively remove impediments by resolving blocking issues related to feature development build and dependency challenges operational support conflicts and process.Provide timely status risk and dependency reporting to the Release Train Engineer and management including sprint execution team availability and issues impacting delivery.Design develop document configure test and debug applications and frameworks across the full software development life cycle serving as a key contributor to system enhancements and new features.Use AI‑assisted development tools to accelerate coding refactoring debugging and test creation.Assist with deployment diagnosis and resolution of critical issues in lab and operational systems as required.Collaborate with and mentor junior team members to meet sprint commitments and project milestones.Communicate effectively with cross‑functional internal teams stakeholders and when necessary external partners to ensure alignment and successful delivery.Basic QualificationsBachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field with 4‑8 years of relevant experience or a Masters degree with 2‑6 years of prior experienceSignificant knowledge of Java with substantial hands‑on programming experienceSignificant experience with Web development and commonly used front‑end tools and languages (React HTML CSS JavaScript)Significant experience with unit testing tools such as Junit and MockitoExperience with RESTful API JSON XML XSDExperience with Spring Framework Spring Security and Spring BootExperience with LinuxExperience with version control systems such as Git or SubversionExperience with common development tools and IDEs (Eclipse VS Code etc.)Experience working as a Scrum Master within the Agile Scrum frameworkUnderstanding of sound software development principles and practicesAbility to effectively communicate verbally and in writingAbility to obtain SF‑85 Public Trust (Tier 2) suitability determinationUS citizenship requiredPreferred QualificationsKnowledge of or experience with AI‑assisted coding (Claude Code Codex etc.)Knowledge of or experience with microservices and cloud‑based environmentsKnowledge of or experience with Python programming languageKnowledge of or experience with Ansible playbooks and YAMLKnowledge of or experience with Linux shell scriptingKnowledge of or experience with MongoDBKnowledge of air traffic control and flight servicesCommitment to Non‑DiscriminationAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to sex race ethnicity age national origin citizenship religion physical or mental disability medical condition genetic information pregnancy family structure marital status ancestry domestic partner status sexual orientation gender identity or expression veteran or military status or any other basis prohibited by law.
