Under the direction of a physician and/or RN the Paramedic provides direct patient care. The Paramedic assists in the ongoing assessment and data collection of patients assigned to his/her care. The paramedic#s primary responsibility is a flight team member on Rotor Wing or Fixed Wing ambulance transports. He/she is expected to rapidly and accurately assess the clinical status of the patient and is knowledgeable enough to handle unstable patients continuously monitoring and evaluating changes in the patient#s condition and response to interventions. The paramedic functions in the ETC when not on an ambulance transport (see specific policy). MINIMUM AND Licenses and Certifications Required North Dakota Paramedic licensure required within 30 days of hire Must be a National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) licensed paramedic at time of hire CPR ACLS PALS required at time of hire NRP PHTLS within first year of hire Educational High school diploma or GED strongly preferred Experience Minimum 2 years experience in EMS preferred Special Skills or Training Membership in professional organization is desirable Communication skills manual dexterity ability to perform nursing skills
