Description, duties, responsibilities
Incumbentsof this classification performschedule and track maintenance of aircraft in state service; inspect anddetermine the airworthiness of aircraft; fabricate and repair airframes andpowerplant parts according to manufacturers specifications; install assembleconnect test and diagnose malfunctioning of electrical and electronic aircraftcomponents instruments systems and equipment; prepare and maintain logs inspectionsheets reports certifications manuals specifications and other records relativeto aircraft maintenance; oversee contractor work and vendor compliance duringoutsourced equipment repair maintenance jobs and aircraft inspections; maintaininventories of parts supplies and materials required for the care and upkeepof state-controlled aircraft; recommend solutions to problems and circumstanceswhich pose a threat to the safety of pilots crews technicians officers andthe public particularly those concerning maintenance quality assurancedeterioration and upgrade of aircraft and avionics equipment systemsassemblies and parts; monitor the condition use storage and discard of componentsfuel tools and materials to ensure that quality control standards and safetyprecautions are adhered to rigorously; perform related duties such as disseminatingreports compiling statistics conferring with pilots and crews to troubleshootaircraft performance issues and maintaining acceptable flight and operatingconditions by removing and clearing ice snow dirt and debris from aircrafthangars ports ways and grounds under state control.The basicpurpose of this work is to maintain repair inspect and certify the airworthinessof aircraft in state service via compliance with regulations set forth by theFederal Aviation Administration (FAA) and applicable federal and state aviationlaws rules regulations and standards. This requisition will remain open until filled; however first consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days. Applicants must have (A) three years of experience in the maintenance of turbine powered aircraft and (B) a high school diploma or equivalency certificate from an accredited institution or governmental unit; or (C) a combination of the required experience and one of the substitutions below. Substitutions: 1. Graduation from an FAA-certified Aviation Maintenance Technician School may substitute for one year of the required experience. 2. Successful completion of an Aircraft Mechanic or comparable military occupational specialty training program while enlisted in a branch of the U.S. armed forces may substitute for one year of the required experience. Candidates must possess a valid Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic certificate pursuant to the applicable Aircraft Mechanic of the Federal Aviation Administration. The certificate number and date of issue must be disclosed on the initial application for employment. Candidates are required to have a current and valid Class D motor vehicle operators license.
