At Plexus were at our best when opportunities are met with passion open communication and teamwork.As an Aerospace and Defense Systems Engineer you will leverage your technical expertise advanced industry knowledge and team leadership skills to be applied across the Plexus Engineering Solutions organization partnering with large cross-functional teams on a global scale throughout all stages of the product development lifecycle. Your business savvy and customer interfacing skills will be relied upon for business development support and proposal creation. You own the Systems Engineering process and tools to facilitate the mission of Plexus Engineering customers and drive customer product success.Key Job Accountabilities Develop and maintain system and sub-system architectures requirements models interface control documents and plans for integration and qualification. Demonstrated experience architecting complex systems including leading sub-system design trade studies performance modeling and component trade studies. Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and be confident in applying engineering experience and formal systems engineering tools to make or facilitate teams through pragmatic choices about design architecture and implementation. Demonstrate a well-established history of technical project leadership cross-functional team leadership and serves as the primary technical interface to customers and the overall technical owner and technical decision maker on projects. Supports the Business Development Team in identifying pursuing and winning new business and assists in developing repeat business with previous and/or current customers. Foster a trusted advisor culture and relationships with key customers to facilitate on-going flow of information concerning current and new product needs product development initiatives and market conditions that impact product development Establishes strong effective relationships with manufacturing supply chain and third party suppliers to ensure Plexus designs are successfully introduced into Plexus Manufacturing Solutions sites. Ability to positively influence others create a passion for excellence and execute multiple projects while meeting customer expectations. Experience identifying and managing program risks. Demonstrated ability to formulate and execute corrective actions and recovery plans as required.Required Qualifications and Experience A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Aerospace Engineering Systems Engineering or related field is required. Suggested minimum of fifteen (15) years Aerospace and Defense industry experience including six (6) years of Systems Engineering experience is required for this position assuming education requirements are met.Desired Skills Experience and Qualifications Possesses a detailed understanding and extensive experience in at least one discipline (e.g. analog digital mechanical software PCB and test) of electronic product development. Advanced written and verbal communication skills; ability to articulate and present ideas internally and externally. Demonstrated experience utilizing formal systems engineering toolsets such as SysML design structure matrices trade studies multi-attribute utility models and model-based systems engineering. Demonstrated working knowledge of mission critical development procedures and processes including configuration management processes and requirements. Working knowledge of aerospace standards such as DO-254 DO-178 DO-160G ARP4754A and ARP4761. Working knowledge of military standards such as MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461. Familiarity with DoD Systems Acquisition Process. Experience in all aspects of the product development lifecycle (requirements development design test qualification certification and product delivery). Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment. Possess strong team building and team leadership skills.
