Our client a well-established leader in the manufacturing of aerospace systems has an immediate opening for a Design Engineer with demonstrated engineering expertise in the design of jigs and tooling to assist in the production of aviation components. include the design and optimization of aerospace product solutions through the research of customer application challenges extraction and definition of product requirements specification creation and expansion of concepts that address customers needs. This will utilize mechanical engineering knowledge problem solving skills and project management to drive projects through the product development process from concept to design through validation and into production scale-up. Essential Duties and Works with product managers sales and customers to define new product requirements. Applies engineering principles to design new products. Uses computer assisted design/drafting (CATIA Solid-Works AutoCAD and/or Inventor) software and equipment to develop system designs. Design jigs and tooling for new product qualification. Conducts design analysis prototyping experimentation cost/benefit and reliability of new products and enabling technologies in concept design and pre-production phases. Ensures release to manufacturing documentation is reviewed accurate complete and contains clear and comprehensive assembly and test instructions. Manages new product development projects using established procedures and project management tools. Supports investigation analysis and problem solving of quality items. Investigates and remains current on new technology to generate new product ideas. Utilizes knowledge of various machines engineering practices mathematics materials plating and other physical sciences to complete system design. Sketches rough layout product and computes angles weights surface areas dimensions radii clearances tolerances leverages and locations of features. Makes final decision on drawings checking dimension of parts materials to be used relation of one part to another and relation of various parts of whole system or project. Responsible for generating an organized file system for Production Drawings. Creates and revises production drawings (detail and assembly drawings) or/and delegates to Design Engineer I and Design Drafter. Communicate with Manufacturing Engineers QA other Design Engineers and Manufacturing regarding new and revised prints. Required BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar degree. 4 plus years of design engineering experience preferably in an aerospace industry. Adept at using CAD software (Solid-Works CATIA AutoCAD and/or Inventor) to create detailed models and drawings. Proven ability to design precision mechanical components and assemblies. Demonstrated proficiency with various manufacturing processes regarding the design of jigs and tooling for new product qualification. Proven Project Management and customer interfacing skills. Experience in the application of FEA to engineering problems. Experience applying mathematical and computational analysis to solve engineering problems. Demonstrated ability to complete tasks and effectively manage time to meet deadlines. Proficiency in the use of business software tools (MS Project MS Word MS Excel MS PowerPoint) and a proven ability to quickly learn and use new software tools. Compensation: $70k to $90k. Interested?
