Description, duties, responsibilities
Essential Perform thermal analysis by numerical and analytical methods in support of NASA and commercial programs. Coordinate and integrate Subcontractor generated thermal models with OSS generated thermal models at system subsystem and component levels. Review thermal models and results provided by Subcontractors to ensure appropriate analyses were done correctly and meet requirements. Prepare PDR and CDR presentations and reports based on analysis and test data. Prepare and coordinate formal design approval documentation and coordinate design approval with customers. Support company Integrated Product Team (IPT) customer design reviews and miscellaneous project-related meetings teleconferences etc. Use appropriate thermal analysis techniques and judgment based on experience to solve complex problems. Document analysis results and generate reports for final submittal. Assist Project Managers and Integrated Product Teams in support of the customer including preparation of proposals change requests design reviews and other requirements related to the design effort. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities Reporting Relationship This position reports to the Senior Engineering Services Manager Qualifications Required Education/Experience/Skills: BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and minimum of ten (10) years of direct experience or a MS degree from an accredited engineering school and eight (8) years of direct engineering experience. Experience with commercial analysis software packages such as FEMAP NASTRAN NASGRO ANSYS LS-DYNA and Mathcad or equivalent is required. Experience with classical analysis texts such as Bruhns Analysis and Design of Flight Vehicle Structures Roarks Formulas for Stress and Strain Petersons Stress Concentration Factors Machinerys Handbook or equivalent is required. Good oral and written communication skills are required. DESIRED BS degree in Mechanical Aerospace Civil Marine Engineering. Experience with commercial CAD software such as Creo SolidWorks or equivalent is required. Experience with APIs automation and scripting using VBA Python or equivalent is preferred. Experience with product development of components and assemblies involving metallics in the plastic regime fabrics polymers and composites is preferred. Knowledge of and experience meeting industry standards and specifications such as NASA AIAA API ASME and DNV is preferred.Salary Range: $150K -- $200K Minimum QualificationMechanical Engineering.
