Description, duties, responsibilities
Our Aviation Safety & Analysis department in CAASD has an immediate opening for a technical expert with commercial aviation maintenance experience to support our mission to assist the FAA with enhancing the safety of its oversight activities. This position may also be involved with modernizing certification activities, including FAA delegation of authorities and oversight of those authorities. You will be working alongside other Aviation professionals, engineers, data scientists, software engineers, to provide guidance and make recommendation to our FAA sponsor on our work program.
Specific responsibilities will include:
Identification of pertinent maintenance and certification data sources to enhance safety Collaborating with FAA and industry to gather data Advising MITRE data analysts on meaningfulness of data and directing analysis Presenting results to FAA sponsors
Minimum four years of aviation related maintenance experience Thorough understanding of aircraft systems, components, structures and powerplants Familiarity with maintenance work instructions and records Familiarity with data management and analysis techniques Familiarity with data visualization methods, such as Tableau Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical and senior decision-makers
Past direct experience with maintenance and certification activities Familiarity with Part 121.373 Continuing analysis and surveillance programs, including reliability programs Demonstrated success in working on FAA certification programs, including Type Certificates (TC), Supplemental Type Certificates (STC), Designated Engineering Representatives (DER), Organizational Design Authorization (ODA), Why choose between doing meaningful work and having a fulfilling life.
