Description
The Leidos Defense Group is seeking an experienced Special Operations Air Subject Matter Expert and Instructor to support our NATO Special Operations program in Abingdon MD.
Take advantage of this excellent opportunity to showcase your talents and experience in Special Operations Aviation as subject matter expert and instructor within our NATO Special Operations Education Training Exercise and Evaluation Program. This role will play a key part in the development and delivery of NATO Special Operations Air academic curriculum in support of the Allied Special Operations Forces Command.
This dynamic position enables you to work with elite Special Operations personnel from across NATO in a multi-national education environment. Courses are generally conducted at the NATO Special Operations University Chievres Air Base Belgium or as Mobile Education and Training events at other NATO or National training sites across Europe.
A successful candidate will join a talented team of former military experts that truly enjoy mentoring and educating NATO Special Operations Professionals on the art and science of military operations and the development of tactical and operational solutions to the full spectrum of threats facing the Alliance.
This role will support a Hybrid/Remote work capacity with 75% of the time in the home office and 25% traveling to provide support and training for the NATO customer.
Primary Responsibilities
Serve as a subject matter expert on special operations air operations
Develop and deliver (instruct) training and educational curriculum based on adult learning and English second language standards principles and procedures
Serve as a facilitator and/or mentor to students or participants during courses or exercises
Prepare lesson plans teaching plans lectures presentations briefings and lead discussions for a vast target audience at various levels in multiple environments (e.g. classroom syndicate laboratory etc.)
Develop and maintain knowledge bases course manuals exercise/training support packages handouts study aids and assessments as required
Collaborate with team members to analyze and design resident curriculum to meet NATO Special Operations University standards
Collaborate and participate in e-Learning curriculum development to meet distance learning requirements
Ensure course materials are maintained updated and improved as required to remain current and relevant and participate in educational quality improvement activities
Coordinate and collaborate with members of the Allied Special Operations Forces Command on training education doctrine and exercises related to aviation support to special operations and integration for SOF
Collaborate conduct research and develop doctrine publications and manuals related to aviation support to special operations and associated skills/techniques
Provide analysis recommendations and support project management for emerging technical educational training or doctrinal requirements to assist with NATO Special Operations aviation development
Provide instructor support to other operationally focused courses NATO publications development and NATO of National SOF exercises.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelors degree with four or more years of relevant experience. Additional related experience training and/or certifications may substitute degree requirement.
US Citizen; Possessing an Active DoD Secret security clearance with the ability to qualify for a NATO Secret clearance.
Five years of tactical flying experience preferably in combat as a special air operations aviator in fixed-wing or rotary-wing aircraft with experience as a SOF air planner integrating SOF air support into special operations missions
SOF air mission planning experience
Experience or qualified in the command and control of SOF air missions as a flight lead air mission commander or at the operational level in an air operations center
Developing training solutions scenario or simulations to aid aviation training education mission preparation or to enhance aviation technical development
Experience with the relationship between intelligence and SOF air operations at the operational level.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Willing to travel to education venues across the NATO Alliance.
Able to work independently from home as a member of a geographically dispersed cross matrixed team.
Preferred Qualifications
Master s degree with two or more years of relevant prior experience.
Special Operations Aviation Leadership experience at the Task Unit level or above.
Experience as an Instructor at a national multi-national or NATO educational institution.
Experience working at an operational level multi-national headquarters or Joint Operations Center.
Experience in Joint or NATO Planning at the operational level.

Pay Range: Pay Range $59150.00 - $91000.00 - $122850.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job education experience knowledge skills and abilities as well as internal equity alignment with market data applicable bargaining agreement (if any) or other law.
