Engineer Powerplant The Powerplant Engineer is responsible for technical standards and reliability of Airbus 320 and Embraer 190 series aircraft engines powerplant auxiliary power unit (APU) and components. Essential Provides technical assistance to operational departments and repair providers to support aircraft operations engine repairs and/or maintenance Review aircraft reliability data and implement corrective actions via engineering modification and/or repair documents in support of achieving aircraft technical dispatch reliability (TDR) goals. Establish build standards and specifications for engines powerplant APUs and components Develop and issue engineering orders to accomplish major and minor repairs modifications and alterations to engines powerplant components and accessories. Develop engineering procedures standards and process specification to comply with Airworthiness Directives and other regulatory requirements. Review Service Bulletins Service Letters and other service documents to determine applicability. Perform cost benefit analysis to determine effectiveness of proposed modifications Review Engine Health Monitoring (EHM) trend data and implement corrective actions to prevent operational problems. Coordinate engineering functions with regulatory agencies as required for approval for major repairs and alterations. Evaluate damaged engine parts and provide solutions beyond the applicable manual limitations in accordance with regulatory and original equipment manufacturer Identify new technologies that will improve the operational performance and reliability of engines and components. Other duties as assigned Minimum Experience and Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering Three (3) years experience with Powerplant engineering/engine fleet management in the airline/ aviation industry Familiar with Federal Aviation Regulations governing aircraft and engine certification Ability to communicate effectively; in both oral and written communication Possess and maintain a valid Driver License and a driving record from the state of your primary residence that meets JetBlue Airways insurance standards Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the is located Preferred Experience and Possess excellent verbal and written skills as well as strong analytical abilities Able to communicate technical issues in an assertive and tactful manner Strong decision making and problem solving skills IAE V2500-A5 or GE CF34-10E engine experience Engine Health Monitoring using engine trend monitoring programs Valid Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant Certificate Computer literate with Microsoft software such as Excel Word Access PowerPoint and Project Familiarity with TRAX Maintenance computer system. Crewmember Expectations: Regular attendance and punctuality Ability to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice Provide on-call off-hours support to Technical Operations Well groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance When working or traveling on JetBlue flights and if time permits all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture that is exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety Caring Integrity Passion and Fun Promote JetBlues #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador supporting JetBlues Safety Management System (SMS) components Safety Policy and behavioral standards Identify safety concerns issues incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlues confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report(SAR)) Adhering to all applicable laws regulations (FAA OSHA DOT etc.) and Company policies procedures and risk controls Upholding JetBlues safety performance metric goals and understanding how they relate to their duties and Equipment: Computer and other office equipment Ear plugs and safety goggles for on-site support Work Environment: Irregular work shifts on-call and multiple work locations Physical Effort: Light physical effort required by handling objects up to 20 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently.
