JOB SUMMARY
The Avionics Manager is responsible for the performance, quality, and success of all Avionics Technicians as well as the overall management of the department’s equipment, resources, and profitability. You will interact with all Jackson Jet Center department managers, executives, employees, and customers while providing the highest degree of customer service, confidentiality, and attention to detail. The Avionics Manager is directly responsible to the Service Manager for the performance of the Avionics install and repair department. This position requires knowledge of aircraft avionics installation and repair. Supervision of technicians will be key to the work process. Work order processing, log book and maintenance release entries, and pricing to customers are routine duties. Job duties will vary each day and will encompass projects as designated by the Service Manager. The Avionics Manager will be required to work independently and lead designated customer and company projects. The Avionics Manager will have direct customer contact in the course of his duties.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordination of Avionics installation and repair schedules prior to and during the performance of all completion operations.
  • Assists in repair, installation, and supervision of avionics personnel in the performance of their duties so that the work is accomplished on schedule and in accordance with applicable FARs and repair station procedures.
  • Systems interface engineering including integration design and provided up-front research to technicians prior to installation or troubleshooting.
  • Maintain databases, service bulletins, and ICAs for avionics on wide variety of aviation products.
  • Ensure all Avionics department training and individual needs assessments are complied with IAW JJC Approved Training Manual.
  • Avionics sales including products selection, quote building, customer technical communication, invoice review, and after-delivery support.
  • Responsible for review for work order before they are closed and invoiced.
  • Monitor labor hours on maintenance work orders.
  • Complete all avionics work documentation packages including logbook entries, FAA form 337s, weight and balance supplements, electrical load analysis, equipment list supplements, flight manual supplements, and ICAs.
  • Responsible for annual reviews and disciplinary actions.
  • Responsible for motivating, training and mentoring others.
  • Perform Electrical Load Analyst, Compass correction cards, and full systems inspections after installations.
  • Create/use electrical schematics for aircraft systems-integrate new products to existing aircraft systems.
  • Provides ground pilot instrument training for installed system.
  • Overall responsibility for profit/loss of the Avionics Department. Attend all management meetings.
  • Interface directly with local FAA FSDO for all Part 145 repair station inquiries, inspections, and regulatory requirements.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Read technical manuals and instructions to gather required information.
  • Create and use electrical schematics from various manufactures.
  • Use of specialty electronics test equipment and tools related to both aircraft maintenance and electronics.
  • Sales experience from the following manufactures: Garmin, Honeywell, Collins Aerospace?Sales experience, meeting with aircraft owners, creating sales estimates, and on-going customer relations.
  • Professional communication and confident presentation skills.
  • Avionics installations, troubleshooting, and maintenance including 91.411/91.413/91.207(d).
  • Ability to lead and supervise multiple projects at one time while being positive and approachable.

Working Environment

  • Primarily indoors in a temperature-controlled environment (Office and Warehouse Environments).
  • Occasional lifting and carrying to 50 lbs.
  • Work is performed in an office and hangar environment with moderate noise level; frequently subject to inside environmental conditions, which provide protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
  • Constantly requires clear vision to read printed materials and computer screen.
  • Constantly requires sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes which permits the employee to function in a general office environment to accomplish tasks.
  • Constantly requires clarity of speech and hearing, which permits the employee to communicate effectively.
