The successful candidate will embrace our commitment to undergraduate teaching advising and mentorship will establish an active experimental physics or astrophysics research program or an observational astronomy research program with significant undergraduate student involvement and will contribute to the operation and improvement of the department school and college. The faculty of the Department of Physics and Astronomy are committed to cultivating a diverse and inclusive community within the department and college. We seek candidates with an authentic desire to utilize inclusive practices to promote an increasingly diverse population of students staff and faculty. The physics and astronomy faculty are also deeply committed to delivering student-centered research-based pedagogy. Candidates should be familiar or have experience with active-learning techniques and be willing to implement them in the classroom. Strong candidates will be able to teach students with diverse learning styles and be comfortable teaching across the required physics curriculum. Candidates must also have well-formulated ideas about how they will develop an active research program and mentor undergraduate research students including mentoring multi-semester senior thesis projects. Candidates with expertise in all areas of physics astrophysics and astronomy will be considered. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate a willingness to use the on-campus Clinton B. Ford Observatory for regular public outreach events or to support undergraduate research projects or both.
