Experience in the Aviation industry is REQUIRED for this role
The Vice President Finance (VP) will be charged with managing the internal data-reporting and accounting systems to provide superior visibility and guidance for the senior management team. The VP will mentor and train the existing finance group who have responsibilities for invoicing client credit policies management of A/R revenue recognition vendor payment management and payroll. The VP will play a key role in maximizing the impact of existing systems including a tech stack built around NetSuite.
Job Duties:
Financial Information
Lead and manage the monthly close process
Drive speed and accuracy in reporting
Oversee the issuance of financial statements
Personally review and approve all State and Federal tax and regulatory filings
Support the FP&A function as needed
Maintain and audit the quality of historical financial information held within the companys data warehouse to ensure management reports are correct
Planning
Assist in formulating the companys accounting policies and lead implementation and compliance with policy
Lead revenue recognition
Support the annual audit
Evaluate the financial controls and quality of earnings of potential acquisition targets
Analyze the impact of accounting and policy decisions on company tax exposure
Evaluate evolving FASB standards and make recommendations for the adoption of appropriate changes to GAAP.
Operations
Identify and lead continuous process improvement across the Finance function to accelerate the pace of reporting and analysis
Participate in key decisions as a member of the Finance leadership team
Establish and maintain strong working relationships across the organization particularly with operations staff
Oversee the companys transaction processing systems
Implement operational best practices to improve data quality and accelerate the monthly closing of books
Risk Management
Construct and monitor reliable control systems
Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements
Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies
Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations
Job Requirements
Successful candidates for this position should have:
Masters degree in accounting or business administration or equivalent business experience
Must have a CPA/CMA designation and public accounting experience
10+ years of progressively responsible experience for a high-growth company or division of a large corporation preferably in Aviation
Experience in partnering with an executive team
Demonstrated ability to manage / mentor staff
Strong written and oral communication skills
Prior aviation industry experience is welcomed but not a requirement
Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience with International (non-US) operations
Superior skills in deploying the features and functionality of enterprise GL systems; ideally prior experience using NetSuite
Strong Excel skills to support reporting and analysis
This role requires about 10% to 15% travel.
