Job Description The NDT UT Level III Engineer creates well defined documented and controlled NDI techniques and NDI standards for aerospace structures primarily using advanced composite materials. Works cooperatively with operations and Manufacturing engineering to optimize techniques for quality cost and throughput. Develops qualification and certification for equipment and manages NAS410 compliance. Supports the company NDI inspectors with technical interpretation training and certification. Applies theoretical knowledge and engineering techniques to the solution of NDI engineering problems including development equipment and production. Key customer interface. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Ensure Compliance to all NDI technical requirements Create and approve and maintain NDI Inspection Technical Data Sheets that meet internal customer and regulatory requirements Support Proposals Provide technical data for NDI standard drawings Develop NDI training and support training Train Level 1 and Level 2 inspectors Perform yearly qualification for Level 2 inspectors (Responsible Level III would certify) Qualification and certify/qualify requirements for NDI equipment and parts Support disposition of NDI findings interpretation Technical NDI discussions with outside customers Support cause and corrective action investigations in relationship to NDI findings Create and maintain Compliance Matrices for NDI requirements Support CCB for changes affecting NDI technical requirements Specification of NDI equipment purchases required to meet contractual requirements while standardizing software and equipment Support NAS410 compliance as directed by responsible Level III Point of contact for customer technical issues. Job Title NDI Level III Engineer Employee Type Salary Location Salt Lake City West-00045 Experience/Education/Skills Have the skills knowledge and to interpret codes standard and other contractual documents that control the NDT methods. Be capable of: assuming technical responsibility for the NDT facility and staff; selecting the method and technique for a specific inspection; preparing and verifying the adequacy of procedures and work instructions; directing training examination and certification of personnel. Minimum 5 years experience in PE TTU and PA inspection of high performance composites including a knowledge of materials manufacturing processes inspections and NDT equipment. Conducting NDT for the acceptance of parts and document results. Knowledgeable in NAS410. Prefer knowledge in NADCAP for NDI. Basic statistics and quality system understanding (AS9100) Minimum Education Requirements: Hold a current ASNT Level 3 certification for UT or certified in accordance with NAS410 Level III in UT BS/BA in Degree in Mechanical Engineering Aerospace Engineering or Equivalent (AE/CE/IE)Salary Range: $80K -- $100K Minimum QualificationMechanical Engineering.
