Were looking for someone with experience sustaining and improving the coating performance of vacuum deposition chambers as well as troubleshooting the mechanical components - to become the subject matter expert for our thin film optical coating process. In addition to the technical skills we desire an individual who is a team player has strong communication skills and analytical ability to join our team. This position will consistently interact with production equipment and production employees to sustain and improve production performance.Primary Responsibilities:Optical coating process development for new and existing processes that lead to improved product yields throughput and durabilityOptical coating design including anti-reflection mirror bandpass edge filters dichroic etc.Modeling of experimental results characterization and refinement of optical propertiesDesigning analyzing and processing of thin film optical coatings utilizing Macleod comprehensive computer software packageDesign and processing of electrically conductive and oleophobic coatingsMaterials development of new optical coating materials for UV VIS IR wavelength rangesDeposition technology development research and propose new deposition methodsInterface with Production engineering in transitioning coating processes into manufacturingInterface with relevant production departments and external stakeholders as neededOn-site technical leadership and area ownership to the Coating Department with specific responsibilities to include but not limited to:Provide daily technical guidance on chamber and process performance to production employeesProvide daily support and resolution to down production equipmentLead root cause analysis investigations for production equipment failuresDrive/Implement corrective actions based on machine root cause investigationSupport manufacturing process improvement and quality initiativesDevelopment of new fabrication techniquesCycle time reductionProcess variation reductionNon-conformance mitigationCreate end plans to manufacture precision thin optics in order to determine procedures tooling and equipment requiredBasic Qualifications:Bachelors degree and 5 years of relevant experience ORAdvance degree and 3 years of relevant experience ORIn absence of a degree 9 years of relevant experience is requiredMust be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident "Green Card" holderScience Technology Engineering or Math degree required Collins Aerospace a Raytheon Technologies company is a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry.
