The Boeing Company is currently seeking an Associate Hazardous Materials and Waste Operations Specialist to join the team in Jacksonville, FL. 

As a dedicated Hazardous Materials and Waste Operations Specialist, the candidate would have a strong background in regulatory standards and a passion for sustainability. The candidate would have a proactive approach to risk assessment and waste reduction to not only meet industry regulations but also fosters a culture of environmental responsibility within organizations. The selected candidate will be responsible for daily hazardous waste operations including, but not limited to: delivering chemicals to production areas, accurately tracking inventory, receiving and storing raw materials, identifying and classifying waste, conducting compatibility assessments, marking and labeling of containers, and coordinating hazardous waste shipments.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Processes hazardous waste and materials on site and arranges for packaging, storage, transportation and disposal

  • Performs routine and emergency response testing and sampling of air and hazardous materials

  • Ensures proper management of hazardous waste to meet all regulatory requirements

  • Implements tactics to reduce use of hazardous materials and generation of hazardous waste

  • Maintains accurate chemical inventory

  • Assists with hazardous material and waste spill clean-up

  • Conducts clean up of hazardous releases

  • Assists if/as required with operation of wastewater treatment system

  • Conducts compliance reviews of local and system-wide processes and practices to ensure regulatory compliance

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in receiving, storing, picking, kitting, and shipping processes

  • Experience with environmental compliance, spill response, and water quality

  • Experience working with various material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks and cranes

  • Ability to walk constantly throughout the workday; stand 6-8 hours per day; climb or work from stairs/steps up to 8 hours per day; climb ladders; bend and twist frequently up to six hours per day; squat and kneel

  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds

  • Willingness to work variable shifts and overtime as needed to support production

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher

  • 1+ years of experience operating a Forklift

  • 1+ years of experience handling chemicals and/or hazardous materials

  • Experience interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and/or procedure manuals

  • Experience working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 3 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+1 years related work experience, 7 years related work experience, etc.).

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Summary pay range: $66,300 - $89,700
