Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is currently seeking an Associate or Experienced Aircraft Assembler Mechanic (Level B or C) to assist with multiple areas of the production system to support Boeing South Carolina 787 program in San Antonio, Texas on a Variable Shift!

This position will report to Boeing South Carolina (BSC) with a work location of San Antonio, Texas.  During this assignments, employee will reside in San Antonio, TX.  At the completion of this assignment employees will be offered to continue at our North Charleston, South Carolina site. Applicants must live in the immediate area of San Antonio, TX or relocate at their own expense before starting the assignment. ?

As a Aircraft Assembly Mechanic you will work within a manufacturing assembly environment by drawing on knowledge acquired from training and certification classes to complete your daily assigned work. By interpreting drawings and reading/comprehending work instructions you will be responsible for identifying your work (task) location on the airplane/part/tooling and identifying all required hand tools, parts and equipment to accomplish defect-free work.

Primary Responsibilities:   

  • Must have the ability to complete the New Hire Training Cycle Flow to obtain and maintain all required certifications.

  • Use a computer in a production environment.

  • Look up/read/comprehend technical work instructions, drawings and/or specifications.

  • Install various parts and assemblies such as brackets, fittings, angles, frames, splices, etc.

  • Appropriate protective clothing/equipment determined by the task you are performing.

  • Various tools such as Rivet gun and bucking bar, screwdrivers, lock bolt puller, power screwdriver, Huck Gun pullers, Hi-speed and Lo-speed drills, Pneumatic and electric drills, C-squeeze, ratchet wrench, nut runner, Winslow, 90-Degree Power Vane, or Quackenbush and various other hand tools and measuring tools.

  • Operate mechanical lifts of various types (e.g. JLGs, Magic Carpets, and scissor lifts).

  • Chemical solvents, sealants, coatings, primers, adhesives, paints and special finishes

  • Working around energized sources (electrical equipment and hazards/shock, e.g. circuit breakers and wiring) and exposure to constant noise.

  • Inspect your work quality and check for FOD (Foreign Object Debris).

  • Capable of operating, but not limited to, heavy machinery such as cranes, stands, movers, lifts, etc.

  • Inspect to ensure First Pass Quality (FPQ) is attained per engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Finger manipulation (keyboarding, other).

  • Reading from a computer screen, printed drawings or documents.

  • Ability to adhere to high standards of Safety and Compliance to regulation

  • Verify and ensure FAA compliance with Quality Management System.

  • Ability to perform interior installations.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience): We need to add better quantifiable items - recommendations below

  • Ability to work a variable shift (1st, 2nd, or 3rd)

  • 1+ year of experience in aerospace, manufacturing, and/or fabrication

  • 1+ years of experience utilizing and following detailed work instructions, reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications, in English.

  • 1+ year of experience using software applications for internet navigation, email, Microsoft Suite and/or other specialized computer applications.

  • Carrying/Lifting up to 10-35 pounds

  • Ability to work with High Hazard Chemicals

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Ability to adhere to high standards of Safety and Compliance to regulation

  • Flexion/Extension (head bent down, head bent back), Handling, Kneeling, Bending at the waist, Reaching (overhead), Rotation of head/neck, Standing, Twisting at the waist and walking.

  • Climbing/balancing (stairs, ladders, poles, scaffolding, inclined surfaces), Crawling, Crouching (squatting),

  • Use of high impact vibratory tools (bucking/riveting)

Typical Education/Experience:

Associate (Level B): Education/experience typically acquired through basic education (e.g. High School diploma/GED) and typically 1 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. vocational school/Associate).

Experienced (Level C): Education/experience typically acquired through basic education (e.g. High School diploma/GED) and typically 4 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. vocational school/Associate+2 years related work, Bachelor, etc.).

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area of San Antonio, Texas or relocate at their own expense.
