The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS), has an immediate need for Sr. Electronic & Electrical Engineer - Wire Design & Install Designer (Level 5), in Hazelwood, MO. The successful candidates will develop equipment and electrical system integration layouts and designs using Unigraphics 3-D Computer Aided Design tools (UG NX), Team Center Visualization and/or other design methods to provide and coordinate product definition for Integrated Product Teams, various engineering functions, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle. The candidate will serve as a subject matter expert for the development, maintenance and release of 3-D engineering models and Build-to-Packages (BTP) using TeamCenter product data manager (PDM) for equipment shelves, supports, miscellaneous hardware, and support hardware models. The candidate will utilize TeamCenter as a master database and configuration control method along with other electronic tools to maintain an accounting of the Size, Weight, Power and Cooling (SWaPC) for new and evolving designs of equipment installations.
The candidate must be proficient in 3D CAD modeling tools Unigraphics (UG) - Siemens NX and fluent in applying 3D Model Based Definition principles as part of the design process. Must have experience using product data management tools (e.g. to create and maintain a Master Equipment List (MEL)); Teamcenter experience preferred. Must be a highly motivated, self-starting individual with strong interpersonal skills. Candidate must possess the ability to perform within a variety of different stages of product development. Position requires strong written communication skills, oral and listening skills, presentation skills and the ability to work well with a variety of customer, supplier and internal team members. The candidate will initiate assignments independently and determine and pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results.
This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Provides guidance in the development of cable/wire harness detail and assembly designs.
Provides guidance in the development of electrical product detail, assembly and installation designs.
Provides direction used by multiple teams to analyze complex results and performs design reviews.
Provides guidance in engineering design disposition on discrepancies.
Defines processes, specifications and procedures that support the design and manufacture of electrical commodities.
Provides direction used by multiple teams to develop complex statements of work, metrics, schedules and budgets.
Directs the technical review of supplier capabilities to facilitate source selection.
Directs the development of functional and physical design requirements to ensure complete integrated design architecture.
Works under consultative direction.
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. secret clearance Post Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):
Ability to obtain a security clearance.
The candidate must have at least 5 to 10 years of relevant aircraft equipment installation systems design experience.
The candidate must be proficient in Siemens Unigraphics NX 3D CAD modeling tools.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
The candidate should be fluent in applying 3D Model Based Definition principles as part of the design process.
The candidate should have experience using product data management tools. Teamcenter experience preferred.
The candidate should have supplier coordination experience.
The candidate should be a highly motivated, self-starting individual with strong interpersonal skills.
Experience in leading a small team of engineers.
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years related work experience, Master+12 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
