Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a lead mechanical design engineer located in Berkley, MO. to join the Armament & Mechanisms team supporting the Platform Systems group on F-15 and F/A-18.

Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Leads and provides technical quality review of the development and documentation of mechanical and fluid systems and thermal environment to establish the system design.

  • Leads activities to validate and verify mechanical and fluid systems requirements.

  • Leads the development, maintenance or modification of system components designs/proposals to provide installation and detail documentation.

  • Performs and documents analyses.

  • Manages supplier development, test and production activities and directs the supplier to optimize integration and achieve program goals.

  • Prioritizes, delegates and tracks performance and documentation of analyses of mechanisms/landing gear/ordnance components and systems selecting appropriate methods to validate or assess the design.

  • Supports proposal preparation and new business development efforts.

  • Trains and coaches others.

  • Works under minimal direction.

This position allows telecommuting.  The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry

  • 3+ years of NX/Teamcenter experience

  • 3+ years of Model Based Definitions experience

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • B.S. or higher in Aerospace, Civil or Mechanical Engineering

  • Experience working on military aircraft armament systems (guns, launchers, pylons, etc)

  • Experience working with internal and external customers and suppliers

  • Experience as a Control Account Manager, project planning, or creating Estimates

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years related work experience, Master+7 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
