Job The Composite Technician performs advance lay-up techniques to include pre-preg or wet lay-up cutting bagging basic repair autoclave and/or trimming operations. This role must be able to demonstrate an understanding of how work orders blueprints and lay-up charts ensure the quality of the product and provide suggestions on improvements as well as coach and mentor other employees in proper procedures. Must also be able to work with shop tools and equipment used in composite layup and assembly as well as demonstrates the ability to perform in a team environment and exhibit a willingness to "do what it takes" to ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded. Specific Build composite components for air vehicles using appropriate lay-up techniques Handling mixing and applying various resin/catalyst materials Operate a broad variety equipment for cutting kitting and assembly of materials to include machines requiring understanding of computer software technology Use hand/power tools in a safe and efficient manner to shape and form simple and complex components Prepare composite components for curing process in autoclave and/or oven by applying proper vacuum bagging methods and procedures Complete self-verification procedure on work orders and other related/required documents Ensure parts meet all quality standards and guidelines prior to presenting for inspection Perform simple and complex composite repairs when needed Effectively coach and mentor others on the proper composite lay-up process and procedures Maintain a neat and orderly work area supports the company FOD (Foreign Object Damage) prevention program and complies with all safety regulations Must be able to perform math computations to include adding subtracting multiplying and dividing whole numbers fractions and decimals; Convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions Provide back up support for AFP machine to include set-up and operation May work any shift and overtime Comply with good housekeeping quality FOD and safety procedures Support other Aurora Flight Sciences sites as required Perform other tasks as required by site leadership Minimum High school diploma or equivalent Minimum 10 years prior experience in composites using pre-preg or wet-layup techniques and materials Minimum 3 years prior experience as supervisor or lead Experienced in FAA manufacture and associated paperwork Documented apprenticeship programs or trade school certifications considered in combination with experience Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings which utilize ASME Y 14.5 M Knowledge of geometric tolerances is required Proficient in the use of computers and equipment which utilizes computer software technology for composites lay-ups and AFP machines Must be a US Person or Permanent Resident Green Card Holder Additional Desire Advanced vocational and/ or military technical schooling related to aircraft manufacturing or maintenance or FAA licensed A&P Physical Ability to work in a manufacturing environment as well as lift and transport objects up to 40 pounds as well as consistently stand stoop crawl bend crouch climb and kneel Shift Day shift with flexibility to work extended work hours or other shifts as needed Aurora Flight Sciences is an Equal Opportunity Employer Previous Applicants:Email:Password: If you do not remember your password click here.
