The Quality Engineer is responsible for providing manufacturing and/or engineering process support in accordance with documented procedures and practices. Additionally the will be tasked with ensuring that quality expectations are met and exceeded while maintaining compliance with quality standards and governmental regulations. The is hands-on and has responsibility for supporting all quality related functions. Essential Duties and Works within the quality system in compliance with ISO 9001 AS9100C and other quality / industry standards. Ensure compliance with aerospace and governmental regulations and including all certifications and product conformity preparations. Review interpret and execute all regulation and specifications required by customers and regulatory agencies. Coordinates with customers on Source Inspections FAIs and Govt Source Inspectors etc. Develop and implement process improvement plans using a variety of Quality and Continuous Process Improvement tools including Six Sigma Lean Mfg. 5S SPC DOE Gage R&R ect. Ensures process compliance through the development of simple yet comprehensive procedures work instructions flowcharts forms templates checklists worksheets and other process related documentation. Develops risk management tools and aids when required (PFMEA..) and develop process mitigation plans that are designed to address the issues identified in Risk Management process. Assists Manufacturing Engineering to ensure products meet the companys quality standards. Support continuous process improvement through the CAPA process. Provide quality-related technical support to engineering manufacturing and procurement. Interface with customers and suppliers to investigate and resolve quality issues. Assist with all audits and all programs including Quality training. Report audit findings to management and develop plans for corrective action. Key technical person in the companys continuous improvement program. Work with Procurement to evaluate suppliers to ensure quality standards including audits. Provides reports for quality metrics product failures and other initiatives. Utilize quality tools and inspection processes on the shop floor to ensure process control. Other duties as assigned. Performance Metrics and Expectations: Reduction of waste including scrap and rework Reduction of quality escapes Maintaining top tier status on customer scorecards Improve First-Pass Yield Essential Traits: Excellent problem solving skills highly analytical uses fact-based problem solving methods including 6 Sigma tools.
